A presentation by bike advocate/NYCC board member Steve VaccaroRoad cyclists’ rights and safety are under assault. New laws enacted this year would force cyclists out of Central Park and onto the grid, where uncertain driver accountability and failed efforts to regulate commercial operators have caused too many cyclist injuries and deaths. Steve will give updates on the Central Park/15 MPH speed limit rule; the arrest of the driver who killed club member Geoff Radbill last December; the free pass given this year by Governor Hochul to drivers bearing half the fault for injuring or killing cyclists; and the uncertain promise of “Super Speeder” legislation. Doors open at 6:00; presentation at 6:30.
